Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) gets closer to the accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) with a visit by the Peer Review Team (PRT) led by its chairman, Prof Dr Michael Powell, who is also the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Griffith Business School, Griffith University, Australia, which began yesterday.
The AACSB PRT which also included two other members namely Mr. Paul Jarley, Dean of the College of Business Administration, University of Central Florida, United States of America and Mr. Boonchai Hongcharu, Director of National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Thailand would be setting up camp in UUM for next four days in order to assess UUM.
Yesterday, Prof Dr Michael Powell was taken on a campus tour where he visited the Three Siblings Tree, located in the Sintok forest, and then he was taken to the UUM COLGIS Trading Room, the UUM Health Centre (PKU), UUM National Golf Academy, the Sultanah Bahiyah Library and U-Assist.
UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak in his statement said UUM was getting closer to mark another historic achievement in forging world fame.
"Six years ago, UUM made a promise to be among the prestigious international business schools in the world. Now we are just a step away from that promise. God willing, soon, AACSB accreditation will be in our grasp.
"Despite the tough challenges we have of all faced, we still need to continue to give our unwavering support and I assure you that we can achieve our goals by the end of this month, if we give another solid boost," he said.
He also expressed hope that the visit by the AACSB PRT would proceed smoothly and that the PRT members would give UUM the green light to obtain the coveted AACSB accreditation.
In his statement, he also expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to UUM campus community for the immense hard work and dedication rendered.
PRT members also held meetings with the UUM COB Assistant Vice- Chancellor and Director of UUM Academic Accreditation and Standards (AACSB) at EDC UUM Hotel & Residence yesterday evening.
