UUMKL, 29-30 Julai 2017 (Ahad-Isnin) : Taklimat AACSB, Bengkel Penyediaan Laporan Assurance of Learning (AoL) dan Sistem Sedona berlokasi di UUMKL adalah siri ketujuh Roadshow AACSB bagi tahun 2018. Latihan ini melibatkan seramai 11 orang peserta yang terdiri daripada pensyarah-pensyarah UUMKL dan OYA kampus KL. Objektif latihan ini adalah bertujuan untuk berkongsi maklumat terkini mengenai AACSB, kaedah penyediaan laporan AoL dan proses mengemaskini Sistem Sedona.
Pengarah Unit Akreditasi AACSB, Prof. Dr. Ku Nor Izah Ku Ismail telah menyampaikan taklimat AACSB kepada pensyarah UUMKL dan OYA. Seterusnya slot kaedah penyediaan laporan AoL dan kemaskini sistem Sedona telah dikendali oleh Dr. Hasniza Mohd. Taib, ahli taskforce AACSB 2018 dan Cik Normizan bt. Yusoff, Penolong Pendaftar Unit Akreditasi AACSB UUM COB.
Turut hadir bersama dalam bengkel ini ialah Pengarah UUMKL, Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar.
UUM continues to shine at the 2nd UUM-Chiang Mai University-USM International Student Conference (2nd UCUC). The conference was hosted at Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand.
The Dean of Student Development and Alumni, UUM College of Business, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik Lamsali said, this conference provided considerable exposure and also opportunities for interaction with fellow participants from various countries.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hendrik also delivered a keynote speech for the conference. He added that, a total of 60 students from various countries participated in the 2nd UCUC which was held from 15 to 21 July 2018.
The 2nd UCUC attracted overwhelming participations from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM); Chiang Mai University (CMU) Thailand; Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM); Danang University of Foreign Language Studies (UFLS), Vietnam; Saga University of Technology (SUT) Japan and Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand.
"Congratulations to all participants from UUM who have outperformed others and won nine awards in the poster and oral presentations categories," he added.
The poster presentation sessions presented the opportunities for participants to share the implementation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in their respective countries.
In addition, participants at the UCUC were also given the chance to explore and discover the rich Thai culture. The team from UUM also performed the Joget Pahang and also Indian dance.
Participants were also taken on field trips to some companies and they also took part in the community service programme with the local community.

Sarajevo Islamic Finance and Economics Conference (SIFEC) 2018 discussed issues concerning the challenges in the development of Islamic Finance at the Gazi Husrev-Bey library, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo.
The conference which attracted scores of participants from European and Western Asian countries was officiated by His Excellency Ambassador of Malaysia to Bosnia, Tuan Zakry Jaafar. The opening ceremony of the conference was quickly followed by the keynote address delivered by Prof. Mohamed Iqbal Asaria of the United Kingdom, a prominent figure of Islamic Economics.
The conference began with a session with the panelists which comprised international panelists namely Dr. Natalie Schoon of Alquity Transforming Lives Foundation, United Kingdom; Prof. Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim, Dean of the Universiti Utara Malaysia Islamic Business School (UUM IBS); and Kuveyt Turk Bank Private Banking and Wealth Management Group Manager, Turkey, Dr. Okan Acar.
According to Prof. Asmadi, the conference which was aptly themed, Challenges in Islamic Economics and Finance in Europe, was further boosted by several parallel sessions that involved UUM lecturer, Prof. Madya Dr. Zairani Zainol.
According to him, the conference was jointly organized by UUM IBS, European Association of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance (EUIEBIF) and School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia.
"I am grateful for being involved in a conference of this magnitude. It has enabled me to highlight UUM as a centre for Islamic Business studies to the world thus paving the way for UUM specialists into global events.
"UUM has also sealed an MoU with University of Sarajevo to conduct various academic cooperation and they have also expressed their intention to continue to collaborate with us in the future," he said.
He further reiterated that the conference marked the first time UUM IBS was being invited to share knowledge and train participants on the practice of Islamic Finance.
"I hope that the field of Islamic business will continue to flourish and UUM IBS will become an important part of the development as a result of this programme. Also, hopefully participants will see the different approaches practiced by each country," he said.

Two lecturers from UUM's Islamic Business School (IBS) were invited to participate in two sessions of the Sarajevo Summer School 2018 held at the Gazi Husrev-Bey Library, Bosnia and Herzegovina recently.
Dean of IBS, Prof. Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zairani Zainol gave their talks on the respective titles, Shariah Screening for Business and Finance for Unit Trusts and Contracts as well as Products Applied by Islamic Banking.
Prof. Dr. Asmadi said the Sarajevo Summer School 2018 which revolved around Islamic finance attracted participants from Europe and West Asia.
According to him, the programme was organized by the European Association of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance (EUIEBIF) and the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia.
He further reiterated that, presentations also involved other panellists comprising experts from the United Kingdom, Turkey and Bosnia.
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zairani Zainol said she was enthusiastic to share knowledge with students and professionals on Islamic finance especially when she shared examples of development models in Malaysia from the early beginnings until recently.
According to her, attendees were keen to explore the area and conduct further discussions on the issues presented.
"Bosnia comprises 52 percent Muslims, thus there are a lot of potentials for wide-ranging halal products including Islamic finance, as Bosnia hopes to be the point of entry for halal industrial into the continent.
"A great many things are being discussed like halal development and promoting IBS in the world.
"I see opportunities in the development of halal products, it appears that the people are more open to Islamic finance but Islamic appreciation is still lacking and at the moment there is only one bank that practices Islamic finance," he said.
Director of the Summer School who is also Director of the Centre for Islamic Financial Studies, University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Velid expressed his heartfelt appreciation toward UUM for sharing knowledge that benefited the participants.
He fervently hoped that the close cooperation will continue and that UUM will become co-organizers with the various associations and University of Sarajevo.
Kuala Lumpur, 10 July - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) through its School of Business Management (SBM) sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TEKUN Nasional to carry out programmes that will enhance the work performance of employees of TEKUN Nasional.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Ayoib Che Ahmad who represented the Vice-Chancellor and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TEKUN Nasional, Datuk Baharom Embi, witnessed by member of the TEKUN Nasional Board of Trustee, Mdm. Siti Norazlina Seni.
Prof. Dr. Ayoib said the signing of the MoU allowed UUM to collaborate with TEKUN Nasional to carry out development programmes which will enhance the work performance of TEKUN employees in the hopes of giving positive impact to the entire organization.
"With the implementation of this collaboration, the employees of TEKUN will have the opportunity to further improve their academic level by pursuing the Executive Programmes offered at three different levels namely Diploma, Bachelor and Master.
"In addition, there are also entrepreneurship programmes specifically organised for the borrowers of TEKUN and also programmes which study the effectiveness of the implementation of financing products by TEKUN," he said.
Meanwhile, according to member of the TEKUN Nasional Board of Trustee, Mdm. Siti Norazlina Seni, TEKUN and UUM's strategic alliance was not only to develop the skills and knowledge of TEKUN employees in business management and entrepreneurship but also to gain insights and suggestions on improving the financing products implemented by TEKUN, through a joint study.
"Through this collaboration, TEKUN Nasional hopes to gain guidance from the academic experts of UUM through comprehensive entrepreneurship training modules and computer application systems needed by TEKUN Nasional," she explained.
The collaborative programme between UUM and TEKUN Nasional comprised various programmes that included academic enhancement amongst TEKUN Nasional employees who initially involved only 42 employees of TEKUN Nasional.
Also present at the event was UUM COB Assistant Vice-Chancellor cum Dean of SBM, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, senior UUM officials and TEKUN Nasional officers.
