1 March - As part of the efforts to secure the EPAS accreditation for the academic programmes, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA) initiated the TISSA-UUM EPAS Awareness Campaign this morning. The campaign was officiated by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak at the Foyer of Sultanah Bahiyah Library, this morning.
EPAS is an international accreditation programme operated by the European Foundation for Management and Development (EFMD) with the aim to evaluate the quality of business and management programmes, thus determining the quality of the management-based institutions.
Prof. Dato' Seri Vice-Chancellor said, EPAS promotes the highest quality benchmark and indicator for programmes offered by international management schools and the accreditation granted by the EFMD is the best and the most comprehensive as it offers an in-depth review of individual programmes through international comparison and benchmarking.
"The effort to obtain this EPAS accreditation will place the accounting programme one step ahead and based on the QS WUR by Subject Ranking, our Accounting and Finance subjects are currently ranked in the 151-200 group.
"I sincerely hope that the whole TISSA community, including the students, will be proud of this achievement and I want TISSA to further intensify the efforts to promote and fortify the TISSA brand worldwide. This will indirectly attract other world renowned institutions to embark on collaborative efforts with TISSA," said the Vice-Chancellor.
Meanwhile, the Dean of TISSA, Associate Professor Dr. Chek Derashid said, TISSA would be the first recipient of EPAS accreditation among other institutions of higher education in Malaysia if we managed to secure the EPAS accreditation. The EPAS audit exercise commences in April 2018.
He added that, at present, a total of 108 programmes from 81 institutions around the world have received the EPAS accreditation and he hoped that UUM will gain the accreditation as it will assist us in our quest to ascent the world university rankings.
A lively aerobic exercise and a spectacular drum performance from the "Gendang 24 Musim" ensemble of the Cultural and Arts Centre (PBS) Music Club enlivened the launching ceremony of the EPAS Awareness Campaign,
