Two UUM teams have qualified for the Malaysia final CFA Institute Research Challenge for 2017-2018. The final round of the competition which was held on 10th March 2018 at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur provides students with an intensive training and mentoring in financial analysis field, equipped with presentations of students projects to a panel of financial and investment experts.
Team A, comprised by Yap Hui Kee, Tan Chwen Sin, Chia Shu Yee and Low Yi Ling won the 3rd place while Team B which included Ong Wai Lun, Ooi Jiann Jou, Muthia Houra Ilyas and Ooi Shi Chao made it to the 4th place. Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Assistant Vice Chancellor of COB, was honored to present the certificate of special recognition to all the team members including their faculty advisors Mr. Abd. Halim @ Hamilton Bin Ahmad.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017-2018 is organized by CFA Society Malaysia and the competition is open to all Malaysian undergraduate and postgraduate students. The competition provides the students with the opportunity to demonstrate analytical thinking, creativity, innovation, communication and presentation skills that are deemed to be valuable to the students when they join the workforce in the future. The competition is also designed to promote the best practices among the next generation of researchers and analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive company analysis training while complementing university curriculum through stimulation of the real world experience from the perspective of an equity analyst.
